Update
How to update your Helios firmware
Keep the device switched on for the whole update. Do not switch it off and do not unplug it until it has finished starting up again.

Before you start
- The device, charged. If the battery is low, charge it first.
- The USB-C cable supplied with the device.
- A computer running Windows or macOS.
- The firmware file from this page.
- Download the firmware file to your computer using the button above. Save it as it is: do not change the name, and do not put it inside a zip file. If you have downloaded it before and your browser adds a number to the name, delete the older copy and download it again, so the file is named exactly
HELIOS_firmware_v0.22.0.bin.
- Connect the device to your computer with the USB-C cable. The port is on the bottom of the device.
- On the device, tap the cogwheel at the bottom left of the measuring screen to open Settings, then tap “Connect PC”. The screen titled “Connect to PC” opens.
- Tap “Connect”. The title changes to “Connected to PC”, and the device now appears on your computer as a drive, in the same way a memory stick does.
- Copy the firmware file onto that drive. Put it directly on the drive, not inside a folder.
- Wait until the copy has finished, then eject the drive on your computer. On Windows, right-click the drive and choose Eject. On a Mac, click the eject symbol next to the drive in Finder. Doing this on the computer first lets it finish writing the file.
- On the device, tap “Disconnect”. The title changes to “Disconnected”. Tap “Done” — the device returns to the measuring screen. If ejecting on the computer already released the drive, the device may go back to “Connect to PC” on its own instead, without showing “Disconnected”. Either screen means the drive is released.
- Go back to the “Connect to PC” screen if you are not on it already: open Settings and tap “Connect PC”. Tap “Update & Reboot”, then tap “Yes”. The device restarts and installs the firmware while it starts up. The screen stays black, there is no progress bar, and it takes longer than a normal restart. This is expected. Do not switch the device off and do not unplug it while the screen is black.
- When the device has started up again, open Settings, then “About This Device”. The Firmware line shows the new version.
If the update did not run. When the update succeeds, the device deletes the firmware file from the drive by itself. If the file is still on the drive after the device restarts, the update did not run: the file was damaged, incomplete, or inside a folder. Nothing is lost, and the device keeps working on the firmware it already had. Download the file again and repeat from step 3, letting the copy finish before you eject the drive.
