What’s New

Version 0.22.0 is a small release. Two changes affect the files you take off the device.

New features

• The drive is called HELIOS. A memory card formatted on the device now appears on your computer as a drive named HELIOS, so you can tell it apart from other drives. A card the device has not formatted keeps the name it already had.
• Saved data follows your unit setting. The data file saved with each measurement now records temperatures in the unit set on the device, the same as Records.csv already did. Files saved by an earlier version keep the unit they were written with, so check the unit before comparing old and new files on a PC.

Version 0.21.0 is the biggest Helios update yet. It brings new ways to aim, new ways to organize and save your measurements, and — for the first time — seven on-device languages.

New features

• Work in your language. Helios now speaks seven languages — English, Chinese, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian. Choose yours in Settings.
• Tag every measurement with a location. Build your own list of locations and sublocations in a simple text file on the SD card, then label each reading as you take it. Helios creates a starter file for you and picks up your edits the moment you unplug from USB.
• Choose how you aim. Switch the aiming mark between Standard, Keyhole, and Alignment. Alignment adds a crosshair, 2× zoom, and a continuous laser for precise targeting — and Helios remembers your choice.
• Instant power-on cue. The aiming laser lights the moment Helios starts up, so you get a clear “it’s on” signal the instant you power on.
• Richer measurement records. Every reading now saves a clean summary in a single Records.csv file on the SD card, along with five key images — first, last, hottest, coldest, and average — so your data is easy to review on a PC.
• Organize records on the device. Browse and filter your saved measurements by location, select several at once to remove, and find untagged readings grouped together so nothing gets lost.
• On-device settings. Adjust screen brightness with a live preview, set screen-off and power-off timers (including “never”), and set the date and time — all from the device.
• Changes take effect when you save. Settings now apply only when you press Save, so a stray tap can’t alter your setup.
• Long measurements save themselves. A held reading now stops and saves automatically after three minutes, so a forgotten trigger won’t fill your storage.
